The production as the base of the success
The production of the company Motus CEE is located in the Maribor Refinery, which is one of the first refineries in the region with the 90-year long tradition. The Refinery was founded in 1922 and has always been known for its dedication to the implementation of the new, modern technologies and its efforts to protect the environment.
1992 The company named MARA was founded. Besides the petroleum, it produced vaseline and petroleum tars.
1933 MARA is transformed into a mineral oil producing company named MOTOROIL. It employs 40 people and introduces the process of continuous distillation.
1947. MOTOROIL acquires new name “ Oil distillery and oil regeneration Maribor”
1952 The company becomes part of the JUGOPETROL, later known as PETROL, Ljubljana
1974 The company is transformed and acquires new name, MARIBOR REFINERY and remains the part of the Slovenian company PETROL
1991 PETROL and Austrian OMV form a “joint venture”, and the company is renamed into OMV-PETROL
1996 MATPEROL separates from OMV and continues to operate independently under the name MAPETROL. It obtains the ISO 9001 certificate
2008 The company changes the name into MARIBOR REFINERY, and Valvoline CEE from Croatia becomes the owner.
2019 The Refinery is a part of the company MOTUS CEE
In order to stay the leader in the region, Motus CEE pays special attention to the research and development. In the laboratories of the Motus CEE dozens of experts of various profiles work every day on the creation of new products. The know-how of the researchers and the use of the most recent technologies enable the creation of the modern and sometime even the completely original products made according to the unique specifications of the customer. In the area of the lubricants development we are focused on those products that match the most recent specifications, meet the needs of the market, and fill the market space not covered by our competitors.
In the area of the design and development of the new products, as well as in the area of improving of our standard offering, we closely work with the suppliers of the base oils and additives. These are all the world-renown companies (Lubrizol, Oronite, Afton, Evonik, Infineum, etc.) that have strong research and development labs and efficient tech support. We launch the newly formed products and production only after numerous tests, many of them performed in our own labs. Of course, in those labs we perform the permanent quality control of our products.
When we talk about the environment, we believe no investment is too big. In the last two years we invested more than half million dollars in the reconstruction of the Maribor Refinery. Of course, we also invest in the permanent education of our employees.
The International Organization for standardization recognized those efforts and issued the certificate for the fulfilling the norm ISO 2000:2008 (certification according the norm ISO 14000 is in process, and the systematization of the public responsibility according to the norm ISO 260000 is also planned.)
